Why We Delivered This Project
Many mums told us they were:
Feeling tired and overwhelmed
Relying on quick, convenient foods
Unsure about postnatal nutrition
Feeling isolated and lacking support
We knew what was needed wasn’t a strict programme, but practical support and a strong community.
What We Delivered
12 nutrition workshops (adapted to be informal and discussion-based)
Weekly wellbeing walks
A healthy recipe booklet with simple, budget-friendly meals
Ongoing support through WhatsApp and Facebook groups
Everything was designed to be flexible, realistic, and welcoming for mums attending with their babies.
Adapting to Mums’ Needs
We originally planned a structured “healthy eating reset”, but quickly adapted this based on feedback. Many mums were early postnatal or breastfeeding, so a gentler, more sustainable approach was more appropriate.
Instead, we focused on:
Small, achievable changes
Building confidence in cooking
Reducing sugar and processed foods
The Impact
Around 100 mums engaged with the project, with regular weekly participation across sessions and online support.
Mums reported:
Feeling more confident cooking from scratch
Increased energy and improved wellbeing
Greater awareness of healthier food choices
Positive changes across the whole family
Feeling less isolated and more supported
What Mums Said
“I do feel better in myself and my husband has definitely felt the benefits as he’s feeling less sluggish and more focused.”
“Cutting out sugar really made me realise how often I eat it.”
“This group is amazing, really giving me some great new ideas and inspiration.”
“Postpartum can be lonely and tiring but this group has massively improved my mental health.”
Thank You!
We’d like to say a huge thank you to Walsall Council for funding this project and making it possible to support so many mums across the community.
A special thank you to Catherine Flamson, founder of Vibe Fit Mums. Catherine’s knowledge, passion, and dedication have been at the heart of this project. She creates such a supportive and welcoming environment and has helped so many new mums navigate what can be a challenging and overwhelming stage of life.
We’d also like to recognise Hala Clayton, who started as a participant and is now an integral part of the team. Through this project, Hala has gained her postnatal nutrition qualification and now supports the delivery of workshops and walks, sharing her incredible recipes and inspiring other mums along the way.
We’re so grateful for all of their hard work and commitment, and we’re really excited to continue building on this and supporting even more mums in the future.
What’s Next
Following the success of this project, we’ve secured further funding to continue Vibe Fit Mums activities and support more mums across Walsall and beyond.
If you’d like to find out more or get involved, we’d love to hear from you 💛
